I’ll be writing later tonight about the upcoming International Migrants Day, but wanted to bring your attention to VivirLatino’s awesome Maegan Ortiz, who reminds us of the obvious: immigrants do pay their fair share, regardless of the amount of ignorant bigotry and discrimination heaped on.

According to a recent study, foreign-born workers are responsible for 20 percent of economic output and make up 20 percent of the population, and that percentage breakdown remains consistent from city to city. “The only way this can happen is by erasing the mythology of the lazy, shiftless immigrant who takes advantage of the United States,” she concludes.
